Hearing System Has Arrived

Our Trustees have just purchased a Williams Hard-of-Hearing system for the sanctuary, which will help to amplify everything that goes through our sound system in worship. We have four small wireless receivers which will allow people to sit any where they choose in the sanctuary. Each receiver has a small ear bud to place in your ear, and the receivers have their own volume control. We can purchase additional receivers if needed. We hope this will be helpful to our worshipers who have difficulty hearing clearly on Sunday mornings.

Skyline Urban Ministry
has a chance to win $50,000!

Here's how you can help, and there is no cost to you.
• go here
• click the "vote" button
• fill in the information
• click the "sign in" button
• click the "vote" button again to cast your vote

Last year we gave our clothing to 1,500 kids. We only have enough money to buy clothes for the 500 kids that have already signed up to receive clothes. If we don't win, we will have to turn away needy kids.

We must have your vote to win the grant. So, please, pass this on to your friends and vote every day!

Summer Sunday Schedule Began May 30th

Beginning on Memorial Day weekend, May 30, we will have Sunday School starting promptly at 9:15 a.m. and worship at 10:00 a.m. This means we will be out before the heat of high noon. Our early service worshippers really appreciate having communion every Sunday, so that will be an option every week. If adult Sunday School classes want to begin a little earlier or prefer to meet later at 11:00, that’s fine, providing child care is not an issue. Classes for children will begin at 9:15 a.m.

You are welcome to “dress down” for the summer, and encourage your friends to do the same. We hope this will be a relaxed, delightful time of worshipping together.

We want to hear what you think about this plan! We currently plan to continue this schedule through Labor Day weekend. Let Mike Brown, Administrative Council Chair, or Dianne know if you have any questions or concerns.

Change the World

What if…on one weekend all around the world, United Methodists came together to work with their local communities? What if…as we serve people locally, we unite globally to eliminate a preventable, treatable disease that kills one child every 30 seconds?

Rev. Peters will be preaching about fighting malaria on April 25, as a part of the UMC international campaign to eliminate malaria by 2015.  Nothing But Nets is the program we partner with to provide insecticide treated nets to prevent the spread of malaria.

Resource Donations:

Books for Liberian School Library - Bring books, 12 x 12 boxes or $10 to ship books to the Liberian School. We had our sort and pack day but we still need your books.

Nothing But Nets - Donate money for this international effort to End Malaria by 2015.

Pick up a form on "How to Change the World" in the narthex.

Volunteer Opportunity

We are looking for volunteers to serve as liturgist on Sunday mornings. no experience necessary. Great hours, no uniform required and you have the best seat in the house. Please contact Stacy in the church office at 524-8428 if you are interested.

Sunday December 20, 2009 - Advent IV Sermon in Song by Pastor Peters,
Luke 1:46b-55 and Luke 1:26-38 “Mary’s Song”.

The UMW are Cookin" up "New" Cook Books

Cook books are available and we have had rave reviews. Proceeds from the cookbooks will go toward various mission programs which the UMW supports. Contact the Church office at 524-8428 or Charlotte Trobaugh at 948-4061.

Bible Connections
Wednesdays, 6:00 pm
Pyramid Classroom in the Youth Activities Building

All are welcome to join us for our weekly Bible Connections class. Each session stands on its own, so if you can't participate every week you will still benefit from our time together. Each week we listen carefully to a passage of scripture, looking for the ways God is speaking to us through these ancient words. Dianne provides some biblical background and commentary, and then we listen again, both to the text and to one another. Visitors and friends are welcome! If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Dianne at 524-8428 or email her.

Special Music Performance

We were blessed Sunday August 23rd 2009 with the music of the a capella Christian singing group Legacy at both services. To learn more about them and listen to audio samples visit their web site.
