They vary throughout the year. Some months we are asked to shop, bake, or bring something from home. Some months we do a mission together in worship. Some months we are asked to work at the church or a person&#8217;s home. This is a great way to serve our community and get to know the people of our church better.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-center para-style-body\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">MAY 2026 <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">The Fellowship Hall is our next project. We would like to renovate the space by exposing the industrial ceiling, painting, and laying down new flooring. Part of this work is unskilled demolition, and we would love some help. come for a workday on Saturday May 16 from 9am- 2pm to tear down the drop ceiling.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-center para-style-body\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">APRIL 2026 <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Our Easter Offering will go toward our 2026 Apportionments to the OK Conference of the UMC, <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">AND on <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">April 11, Saturday from 9:30am- 2pm, help us supervise and host OU\u2019s Big Event volunteers at our church.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>MARCH 2026 <\/strong><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">On March 7, 25 volunteers worked at Free To Live Animal Sanctuary, cleaning out and organizing a warehouse. We also donated toys, cat litter, food, &amp; radios for music for the animals.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>FEBRUARY 2026<\/strong> <span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Throughout February, we collected home decor &amp; kitchen items for City Rescue. Those moving into permanent housing can take what they need to get started.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>JANUARY 2026<\/strong> <span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">On January 28, 50 volunteers worked at the Regional Food Bank.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">DECEMBER 2025 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Our Christmas Offering will go to rental assistance and missions at CHUMC (75% to Stay Housed\/ 25% to CHUMC\u2019s missions). We will feed 200 over these 2 days!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>NOVEMBER 2025<\/strong> <span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Our church gathered <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-underline\">Thanksgiving bags<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-none\"> for <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-none\">Skyline Urban Ministry<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-none\">. Thank you to those who brought bags or donated money. We distributed 121 bags on Monday before Thanksgiving and wrote a $500 check to Skyline to continue filling their shelves.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>OCTOBER 2025<\/strong> <span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">We collected <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-underline\">towels and XL twin comforter sets<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-none\"> for the <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-none\">Carolyn Williams Center <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-none\">(young male residents). When residents move out, they take their linens. We filled their supply closet for the months to come.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>SEPTEMBER 2025<\/strong> We are collecting K-Cups for Palo Duro, an NSO residence for people on disability. They are renovating their facilities with a built-in coffee station. Our church is supplying the K-Cups, any flavor. Bring them to the church throughout September.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>AUGUST 2025<\/strong> We raised $2600 to support the teachers at Putnam Heights Academy and our church. We shopped for their needs and wants as school began. Their lists included books, classroom decor, gardening supplies, and a fridge for Home Economics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>JUNE 2025<\/strong> This is our month to focus on Mobile Meals. We are looking for a volunteer to deliver meals on Mondays once or twice a month. We want to keep some staples in our freezers for the weekly cooks, and we would love to welcome a volunteer to cook either monthly or every so often. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>APRIL 2025<\/strong><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2014Saturday April 5 from 9:30am &#8211; 2pm, come help us host students for OU\u2019s Big Event. Help greet or supervise a group of workers. Or maybe you&#8217;d rather bake cookies for our workers!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>MARCH 2025<\/strong><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2014<\/span><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Monday March 10, we will bring dinner to OCU following their Evensong worship service, about 50 students normally. <\/span><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">We are looking for a group who can meet at the church at 6pm to prepare the meal and deliver the hot food at 7:30pm.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-center para-style-body\"><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"><strong>FEBRUARY 2025\u2014<\/strong><\/span><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">This month we will focus on the unhoused population in OKC. <\/span><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">On February 23, we will have a speaker from Curbside Chronicle <\/span><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">in worship. We will have a vendor selling their magazines for $2 each. We will be gathering items to make care packages for all curbside vendors.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-center para-style-body\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">JANUARY 2025<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2014 It\u2019s getting cold outside! Let\u2019s go through our closets and pass along our gently used winter clothes. We need cooks in the morning AND the afternoon. At Tabletop Tavern, we will hand out candy. They say the most helpful donated items are cereal, canned meats, and macaroni &amp; cheese. Let&#8217;s stock their shelves! Bring these items to church throughout July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>JUNE 2024<\/strong>&#8211; VBS is June 24-27 (Monday- Thursday), and we need all hands on deck. Volunteers are needed to help with dinner, and we need lots of help keeping track of kids. Bakers, we need 30 dozen cookies (350). Shoppers, please consider helping us with VBS crafts, science, and cooking supplies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>APRIL 2024<\/strong>&#8211; <span class=\"OYPEnA text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Saturday April 6 (9:30am-2pm), volunteers needed to work with <\/span><span class=\"OYPEnA text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-underline\">OU\u2019s Big Event <\/span><span class=\"OYPEnA text-strikethrough-none text-decoration-none\">workers. Help host or supervise a project. Young Adults, j<span class=\"OYPEnA text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">oin on Sunday April 7, stay after church for pizza and to finish any of the work projects from the day before. Dress ready to work!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>FEBRUARY\/ MARCH 2024<\/strong>&#8211; <span class=\"OYPEnA text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Skyline Prom Room- <\/span><span class=\"OYPEnA text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Skyline helps teens who would otherwise not be able to afford a dress for their school\u2019s dances<\/span> <span class=\"OYPEnA text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">shop for formal wear. Our church worked the Prom Room at Skyline Urban Ministry on Feb 25, March 16, and March 21.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>DECEMBER 14, 2023<\/strong>&#8211; Our church provided Christmas lunch for NSO&#8217;s Palo Duro, all the Whiz Kids families, and Mobile Meals. \u00a0250 meals!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>NOVEMBER 2023<\/strong>&#8211; Together we donated 95 Thanksgiving bags to Skyline Urban Ministry and our own Whiz Kids. That\u2019s about $2000 of food- amazing! The youth helped shop, the Whiz Kids helped put bags together, and our church volunteers finished out the project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-center para-style-body\"><span class=\"OYPEnA text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Our church adopted two Christmas wish-lists for NSO Palo Duro residents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>OCTOBER 2023<\/strong>&#8211; <span class=\"OYPEnA text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Our members handmade 27 scarves for YWCA domestic abuse clients.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>SEPTEMBER 2023<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0<span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Crown Heights UMC is playing a lead role in organizing SKYLINE URBAN MINISTRY&#8217;s\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Prom Room.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">This fall we are collecting fairly recent, in good condition formal dresses and suits. Ask around!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>SUMMER 2023<\/strong>&#8211; We are raised money for medical debt relief. Every penny went to purchase someone&#8217;s unpaid debt. We would like to have 6 dozen homemade brownies as dessert. Can you help provide some brownies?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>FEBRUARY 2023<\/strong>&#8211; On Monday February 6, we need a crew to meet at 5:30pm and cook the meal (Chinese food) and then drive it to OCU at 6:45pm. The church will shop for the food, we just need people to help prepare\/ transport.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><b>JANUARY 2023-\u00a0<\/b>CHUMC provides approximately 14 meals every Monday to homebound seniors in our community through Meals on Wheels.\u00a0Can you help us cook in January? \u00a0<i>Jan 16- Jennifer Sahmaunt is fixing tetrazzini. Can you provide 2 bags of Caesar salad and\/or a dessert? \u00a0Jan 23- We will serve sliced ham. Can you provide a potato casserole and\/ or a dessert?<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><b>DECEMBER 2022<\/b>&#8211; December 15, we have committed to bringing lunch to NSO&#8217;s Palo Duro&#8217;s residents AND dinner for the Whiz Kids&#8217; program. We cooked 150 meals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>NOVEMBER 2022-\u00a0<\/b>Thanksgiving Bag Shopping List-\u00a0Our church collected bags of food for families in need of a Thanksgiving meal. Our grocery list was all the non-perishable food items needed to feed a family of 6, not including the meat. The list is below. We shopped for\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, all hygiene items.<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">\u00a0On\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">Sunday, September 25, 2022, we celebrated recovery with cake after worship and raised $300 to scholarship for someone at rehab.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">AUGUST 2022- \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">We collected\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">school supplies<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\"> to hand out to our kids\/ teachers, our Whiz Kids, and Putnam Heights Academy. We collected paper, folders, office supplies, or pencils.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><span class=\"JsGRdQ\"><strong>JULY 2022-<\/strong> We collected\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">school supplies<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\"> to hand out in August&#8211; paper, folders, office supplies, or pencils.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>JUNE 2022-\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">We were assigned our third\/ fourth apartments for a family of 9 (3 generations). We moved items from the church to the apartment on<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">\u00a0Saturday, June 18. The 2 apartments looked great.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">Summer Recharge<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">\u00a0was a school program for Afghan students and new English learners to practice their language skills. Through the month of June, <\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">we sent volunteers to read with the kids from 9-10am on<\/span><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">\u00a0Wednesdays (June 8, 15, 22, and 29).\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>MAY 2022-<\/strong> On Sunday May 1 as we celebrated our graduates, we thanked the teachers of our church. We sent 25 people on\u00a0<\/span><strong><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">Thursday, March 3rd from 6:30-8:30pm.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>CHUMC Care Project- Afghan Refugees- <\/strong><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">Worked through the Spero Project and Catholic Charities, Crown Heights UMC committed to furnish and supply 3 homes for arriving Afghans. The youth are the cooks and the money goes to help the refugee families at our church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>AUGUST 2021-<\/strong> We gave cards and a $5 Sonic gift cards to our Postal Carriers. The church is provided the card, members included the gift card, and left it out for their Postal Carrier. Given by August 14.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>JULY 2021-<\/strong>\u00a0We asked for casseroles for the church freezer to be used for Mobile Meals. To help our devoted cooks, people provided the main course of the meal so cooks only had to worry about the sides.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>JUNE 2021-<\/strong>\u00a0Members were invited to participate in the Church World Service Ration Challenge. Three of us committed to eating only the rations provided to refugees in a camp. It was a fundraiser and an exercise in compassion. On June 13 in worship, we heard stories from our refugee families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>APRIL 2021-\u00a0<\/strong>We had church members supervise and host a fabulous team from OU&#8217;s Big Event Workday on <b>Saturday April 10.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>MARCH 2021-<\/strong>\u00a0Putnam Heights Academy is an alternative school near the church.\u00a0<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">We collected 150\u00a0<\/span><b>$10 gift cards to Sonic<\/b>, one for each student\u00a0as the school year comes to an end.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>FEBRUARY 2021-<\/strong>\u00a0COVID has hit our hospitals, clinics, and skilled nursing facilities very hard. We are grateful for all the people on the front lines, especially the doctors, nurses, and staff from our church. We sent\u00a0trays of homemade cookies with our medial professional members to their places of work.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>JANUARY 2021<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0Our church\u2019s mission for this month is to help stock the freezer for Night Shelter, offering temporary housing for our houseless population. Members donated<b>\u00a0frozen meals <\/b>(store bought or homemade) through our church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>DECEMBER 2020<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0Through Neighborhood Service Organization, we adopted 2 clients for Christmas. Thanks to our members for buying towels, clothes, fluffy pillows, and cowboy boots to sweeten Christmas for our 2 men!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>NOVEMBER 2020<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0<strong>Thanksgiving Bags<\/strong>&#8211; Throughout the month of November, we collected grocery bags for Skyline Urban Ministries. We donated 70 bags to Skyline and kept 30 for our church pantry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>OCTOBER 2020<\/strong>&#8211; A fundraiser for our church&#8217;s missions- we mailed out <strong>Halloween treats<\/strong>\u00a0to children or adults. People gave the church office names and addresses for anyone they wanted to send a Halloween card and candy, we took care of the rest! Cost was $10 per name.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>SEPTEMBER 2020<\/strong>&#8211; Throughout this month, our church committed to registering people to <strong>vote<\/strong>. We sent registration forms and absentee ballot forms to 5 colleges and set up 3 booths in church parking lots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>AUGUST 2020<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0Church World Service (CWS) is a ministry supported by the United Methodist Church, bringing aid to those affected by disasters, both natural or manmade.\u00a0This year as hurricane season approaches, they are low on <strong>Hurricane Kits<\/strong>. We assembled 5 some kits and mailed them CWS\u2019s distribution centers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\" style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>JULY 2020<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0<strong><b class=\"\">Skyline Urban Ministry<\/b>\u2014 <\/strong>Skyline is still providing groceries for the community. The demand is big right now. If you are shopping or cleaning out your pantry, please consider contributing any non-perishable food items. They are specifically asking for <i class=\"\">rice, instant oatmeal, canned meat, and peanut butter<\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>JUNE 2020<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0<strong>Dress for Success Oklahoma City<\/strong>\u00a0empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Their building was burned and all inventory lost on May 30, 2020. We helped restock their closets. Women, thank you for all your second-hand professional clothes.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nMobile Meals<\/strong>: For over 25 years, our church has participated in Mobile Meals, a national program bringing hot,\u00a0nutritious meals to older, homebound adults. Each Monday\u00a0morning our church volunteers cook a\u00a0delicious meal and deliver those meals to about 15 people.\u00a0This is an important\u00a0ministry and service. It is a\u00a0safety net for a vulnerable group in our\u00a0society, allowing them to\u00a0maintain their independence while providing essential care.\u00a0We can always use help with cooking, driving or helping deliver the meals.
